For Nagisa, that summer vacation was one she will never forget. In order to get a portable record player, Nagisa starts working part-time at her aunt's beach house. Every day, various things happen: she gets a perm under the influence of her cousin Reiko, a delinquent girl; she goes out with Reiko's cool boyfriend, who drives an American car; and Mami, a rich beautiful girl who has come home from Tokyo, is mean to her. One day, while practicing swimming at her favorite rocky beach, she meets a strange boy. Hiroshi, a sickly boy from Tokyo, says he collects flotsam on the beach. Nagisa teaches him how to swim, and they become friends. Booklet ( 16 pages ) ( Production Diary: A valuable production diary written by producer Shuichi Yokota that records the events from the day Madoka Matsuda moved to Tokyo to the crank-up of the film ) is enclosed.
