 Description
[Machine Translation] [The "Chuji's Travel Diary" directed by Daisuke Ito, which is regarded as a milestone in the history of cinema. The National Film Archive has restored and brought back to life this miraculous masterpiece from a "phantom film" that was excavated. This Blu-ray release includes a digitally restored 15-minute version of "Chogon", which is also a digitally restored version of "Chogon". Chuji's Travel Diary" was produced in 1927. It is composed of three parts: Part 1 "Koshu Korozen-hen", Part 2 "Shinshu Kesho-hen", and Part 3 "Goyou-hen". It was directed by Daisuke Ito and starred Denjiro Okochi. The film was a big hit and was highly acclaimed for its charm, which was the result of Ito's subtle and ambitious attempts not seen in conventional period dramas, such as moving shots, expressionistic techniques, violent stand-up combat, and clever use of subtitles, which later became synonymous with the director. The original negative was lost and the film for screening was also lost, but in December 1991, a combustible 35mm film was discovered in a private storehouse in Hiroshima Prefecture, and the National Film Center of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, undertook restoration work. The film turned out to be one part of the second section and most of the third section, and in 2011 the Film Center digitally restored the film, reproducing the original staining as well. The master of this film is this digitally restored version. A masterpiece in the history of cinema has been revived after the trans-historical drama of excavation and restoration. Picture disc specification. English subtitles are burned into the film, and cannot be turned on or off.
