The main character, a young doctor who is falling into a downward spiral, is played by Yuji Kawakita, who appeared in many Shochiku classics including "Kimi no na wa (What is Your Name?). Yoko Mihara plays Rumiko, a lover who has become a woman of the night. Yasuko Mita plays a nurse who is still in love with Segawa even though she has been poisoned by him. --Segawa is a brilliant doctor who is considered to be the future director of the hospital.
