Description

Yuriko (Sayuri Yoshinaga) comes to Tokyo from the northern part of Japan and meets Shintaro (Mitsuo Hamada), a medical student, at a Kenjinkai. Yuriko takes a liking to Shintaro, who openly states at the meeting that "the Kenjinkai is being used for election campaigning. Yuriko returns to her hometown for a long time and is shocked to find out that her mother Haruko (Mieko Takamine) has been reading Yuriko and Shintaro's sealed letters. Haruko's illness becomes serious and she is on her deathbed. At her final bedside, Haruko tells Yuriko about the fate of Shintaro, Yuriko, and herself. When Yuriko discovers the truth...
