¡SOKO NI SUWAROUKA
¡Michinori Toyota
Description
[Machine Translation] Michimichi Toyoda celebrates the 20th anniversary of his CD debut with the release of a four-song maxi single. The title track, "Sokoko ni Sitting there?" is a shoegazing, psychedelic rocker ballad with vocals by Shoko Suzuki, and is on par with My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus & Mary Chain, and Lou Reed. The band ensemble is superbly cool, and the powerful yet fragile "Uta" slowly seeps into the listener's mind. The CD also includes a boosted band version of a recent live favorite, "Fuckin' Great View," which has not been included on the CD. Unlike the first, second, and fourth tracks in which the mtvBAND participated, "Summer Morning" is a solo performance, with a cool and lonely ukulele playing, and is oddly touching in its folky simplicity, which is different from Toyoda's previous works. The demo version of "I Like You," released as a 7-inch single in April, is a more garagey, early-impulse rock 'n' roll. Recorded and mixed by Naoyuki Uchida, and mastered by Soichiro Nakamura of PEACE MUSIC. This special commemorative single is the result of the strong teaming of the two, and is based on the masterpiece album of 10 years ago, "Tokyo Lovers," which had a great influence on the current Tokyo indie scene.
