Description

The genius of the film's plot involves the 4th secret prime directive that even RoboCop himself isn't aware of at first. Peter Weller is brilliant, convincingly bringing the film's hero Alex Murphy/RoboCop to life. The rest of the excellent cast includes Miguel Ferrer as a ferocious yuppy responsible for the "RoboCop" project, Nancy Allen as Robo's partner, and Ronny Cox and Kurtwood Smith as totally ruthless bad guys. Phil Tippett's pre-CGI stop-motion "Ed-209" effect remarkably still holds up, considering it's basically the same effect used by the great Willis O'Brien in 1933's "King Kong."
