 Description
[Machine Translation] [Request Library Vol.2] There was a lone man who risked his life for honor and pride. This is a painful and unparalleled authentic western drama about a "proud man" who daringly stands up against the lawlessness and violence that must befall him! Robert Ryan plays the role of a tough man who defends his town as sheriff and fights for his honor and pride. The theme song of the same name, performed by the Three Sons and accompanied by a melancholy whistle, was a big hit in Japan. The film was shot by Lucien Ballard, a master of Westerns including "The Duel at Noon", "Nevada Smith", and "Tombstone and the Duel". Art Director Lyle R. Wheeler has won five Academy Awards for his work on Gone with the Wind, Anna and the King of Siam, The Sacred Coat, The King and I, and The Diary of Anne Frank. --The film is set in the town of Flatstone, Kansas, where cattle brought from Texas gather. Sheriff Cass inspects a saloon that has opened in the growing town and finds a cheating gambler and gets into a gunfight. Cass receives a minor head wound and is temporarily blinded. Barrett, the owner of the saloon, who had a history with Cass, hires a hit man to stalk him. The sheriff's deputy resigns in fear of the unrest, and Cass hires Cowboy Tad, a two-gun man who thinks Cass is avenging his father's death...
