Description
Brendan Fraser is Stu Miley, a comic/cartoon artist whose automobile accident leaves him in a coma. Stranded in limbo-land between life and death, he tries to outsmart Death (Whoopi Goldberg) in order to return to the world where his girlfriend (Bridget Fonda) is praying for his life. However, Monkeybone, his cartoon creation and his mischievous alter ego, has his own plan in taking over Stu's body... The basic premise is similar to that of "Cool World," the Ralph Bakshi film starring Brad Pitt and Kim Basinger, but this one uses stop-motion animation effects, like in director Henry Selick's previous endeavors "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "James and the Giant Peach," blended seamlessly with live action footage (with Brendan Fraser and Chris Kattan doing their comedic stunts in the best slapstick tradition) through state-of-the-art digital effects.
