¡One Step at a Time
¡Yuji Kawamoto

 Description
[Machine Translation] A collection of all original compositions by YUJI KAWAMOTO, a jazz bassist and arranger active in the Tokyo metropolitan area and elsewhere in Japan, recorded in March 2021 and previously distributed via subscription service from July 2021, and now released on CD by popular demand. This ambitious work is a fusion of the spirit of jazz and the melodies of Japanese sensibilities, and aims to present a form of Japanese jazz by Japanese people, as Kawamoto himself considers it in his activities as a jazz musician in Japan. The production was carried out while searching for musical expression in the midst of severe restrictions on live concert activities due to the Corona Disaster. The title of the album, which means "step by step," is based on the idea of moving forward one step at a time without giving up, believing in the power of music to heal people and doing what one can do, despite the fact that it is said to be unnecessary and urgent. The album contains 9 songs in total, including 6 instrumental songs and 3 vocal songs including a song in a play ( #5, #6 ) written by actress and playwright Eri Watanabe. The familiar melodies and the improvisational development of the melodies create a passionate sound that only jazz can produce.
