The tour, the first in Japan in 23 years, featured a total of 11 concerts, many of which were sold out, sending the whole country into a whirlpool of excitement. The conductor, Marin Allsopp, is Bernstein's favorite disciple and has served as music director of many famous orchestras. This monumental work features the new generation pianist Hayato Kakuno, who came into the limelight at the Chopin Competition, performing with a prestigious orchestra and a first-rate conductor from Chopin's homeland, Poland. The first pressing includes two bonus tracks, "Fetal Movement" and "Reminiscence," which Kakuno composed inspired by Chopin (first time on CD).
