¡RAT RACE
¡Movie
Description
"Rat Race" is in essence a well-handled reworking of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," the 1963 quintessential slapstick comedy. Unlike 1987's "Million Dollar Mystery" which was also a sorta remake of the Stanley Kramer film, most jokes work in this movie. No wonder, since it's directed by Jerry Zucker, the man behind (with his brother David, and Jim Abrahams) such comedy hits as "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series. It's amazing array of cast members include John Cleese (with weird, ferocious looking phony teeth), Rowan Atkinson (playing what's basically Bean with an Italian accent), Cuba Gooding Jr. (who drives a busload of Lucys), Jon Lovitz (the pop of a Jewish family who ends up doing "Adolf Hitler" imitation), Whoopi Goldberg (with the wig), Seth Green with newcomer Vince Vieluf (as brothers who are failed con artists), Wayne Knight, Paul Rodriguez (his talk show was funny, bring it back!), Amy Smart, and more.
