Following the film version, the TV series attracted attention with Shinichi Chiba playing the lead role of Jubei Yagyu and the first episode directed by Kinji Fukasaku, in which the members of the Japan Action Club (JAC) led by Shinichi Chiba performed acrobatic actions as ninjas.
