Description
[Machine Translation] This is a story of the passionate souls of the men who saved the "beauty of Japan" and created "Cool Japan" 100 years ago. Naoto Takenaka passionately plays the lead role of Tenshin Okakura. The film depicts the passionate lives of Tenshin and his disciples with a splendid cast including Shido Nakamura as Taikan Yokoyama. --In the early Meiji period, the young Tenshin was working with Fenollosa to protect Japanese art. Later, he became the principal of the Tokyo Art School (now Tokyo University of the Arts). He was on an elite course in the art world, making efforts to nurture young talents such as Yokoyama Taikan, Shimomura Kanzan, and Hishida Shunso, but he was forced to resign due to a conflict with the Western school of painting. Tenshin, together with his disciples, including Taikan, who adored him, established the Japan Art Institute, but the institution soon fell into financial difficulties. Seeking a new location, Tenshin built Rokkakudo on the coast of Itsuura in Ibaraki Prefecture. Tenshin moved the institute there with his disciples, including Taikan and Shunso, and immersed himself in his spectacular creative activities.
