Description
[Machine Translation] One day, suddenly - an old man abandoned his house. His granddaughter, Haru, followed him... The journey begins at a desolate seaside in the North Sea, which used to be rich in herring fishing, but now even a trace of it is missing. An old fisherman and his granddaughter were living a modest life together in a dilapidated house. The old man's name is Tadao, and his granddaughter's name is Haru. Haru used to work as a school lunch lady at a local elementary school, but lost her job when the school was closed. She is desperate and thinks of going to Tokyo to work, but she cannot abandon Tadao, who is crippled. Tadao, on the other hand, cannot keep young Haru, who has a bright future ahead of him, on a tight leash forever. So the two decide to set out on a journey to visit their estranged older sisters and brothers to ask them to take care of Tadao in his old age. They traveled from Masuge in Hokkaido to Miyagi in the Tohoku region, visiting relatives in Kesennuma, Naruko, and Sendai. However, each destination had its own family circumstances. Everyone was not able to take care of Tadao. Haru, who witnessed the conflicts between her grandfather Tadao and her relatives, suddenly felt a longing to see her father, and she and Tadao headed for Shizunai, Hokkaido, where her father lived.... How will the journey of a grandfather and his granddaughter turn out? This DVD includes an audio guide and Japanese subtitles.
