While Michael is listening to his lover Donald's problems, his college friend Alan calls and cries that he wants to see him right now. Alan, a lawyer, is prejudiced against gays, so Michael promises to have lunch tomorrow. Soon Emory, an interior decorator, Bernard, an African-American who works in a bookstore, and Larry, a fashion photographer, and his girlfriend, Hank, a math teacher, arrive. As the excitement builds without Harold, the star of the show, the doorbell rings and Alan arrives. Michael has no choice but to invite him in, but the party is filled with a delicate atmosphere.
