[Machine Translation] A heartbreaking tale of a man who crosses a thorny path in search of revenge for his eyelid father who must be killed, and meets an unkillable foe! Based on the novel by Frank Gruber, adapted by Borden Chase ("The Man Without a Star") ('55) and directed by John Sturges ("The Order of the Japanese"), this is the long-awaited first packaged version of this fine mystery-style western. Richard Widmark (The Ghost Town Duel, 1958) plays the role of a hero in pursuit of his father's revenge. The red star is Donna (It's a Wonderful Life!), who also starred in "The Greatest Hour of My Life" ('54). (54), and Donna Reed (The Great and Powerful). --In this film, five members of a white traveling party are killed in an Apache raid and buried by the sheriff of Silver City. The $60,000 in gold they had obtained in the Hilla Valley had been stolen by someone. Jim (Richard Widmark) visits the scene to see if one of the victims might be his father, and meets a beautiful woman, Caryl (Donna Reed), who has also come to confirm her husband's death. One was missing her left hand, and the only thing left was a horse belonging to rancher Carson ( Barton McLean ). In search of clues to the sixth traitor, the two head for Carson's ranch. There, they learned from Carson that the man with the missing left hand was his nephew and that a man named Bonniwell was plundering the ranch at the same time, armed with a large sum of money. Either Caryl's husband or Jim's father was the unidentified body, and one of them must have been the survivor who called himself Bonniwell. Jim went to Bonniwell by himself...
