While both are very good films too, 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory' is nothing like them. Based on the book and the screenplay by Roald Dahl (known for his dark humour, and stories for mystery/horror shows like 'Tales of the Unexpected'), the movie is full of witty sci-fi/horror ideas, and far-out, psychedlic imageries that will delight kids of all ages! ...and you'll never forget Mr. Wilder's delightful performance!
