¡Knights Of The Sound Table
¡Cameo
Description
[Machine Translation] Among the many funk bands, Cameo stands out from the crowd with its long career and Larry Blackmon's masterful direction of the band in line with the times. The band is now reissuing their 1981 album, the final chapter in the band's early, large-band period. The album has been reissued on CD several times, most recently in the "Surfer Soul" series, which is now out of print. The reissue of this masterpiece is a joyous reissue of this album, which is a masterpiece of sophisticated urban funk and melting, agonizing slow music that everyone was satisfied with when it was released in the "Surfer Soul" series. After this album, Cameo has been drastically cutting down all the extravagance and exploring a new line of music, but what you hear here is a collection of high quality songs that can be said to be the culmination of the existing lineup. The flow from the sharp funk number "Knights By Nights" to "Freaky Dancin'" with horns in full throttle is a great opening. Immediately after that came the agonizing urban slow "I Never Knew," and there was nothing more to be done. The other slow song, "I'll Always Stay," is even more agonizing with a falsetto. It would be no exaggeration to say that it would be a great loss to the soul/funk world if this masterpiece, which contains such wonderful songs, were to go out of print.
