¡Makoto Deguchi Trio
Description
[Machine Translation] Debut album by the Makoto Deguchi Trio, which pursues a unique and distinctive sound With the recent boom in piano music, there have been many recordings by violinists, but many of them have been sales projects that only include an American rhythm section for the recording, and they have been working together for a long time in actual live performances. It is rare to see a trio playing together as a unified unit in a live performance. In this respect, Deguchi Trio's first recording, with Deguchi at the center, Tadashi Sase (bass), and Akira Igawa (drums), was the result of repeated live performances and rehearsals, and the group was able to create a performance with a distinctive sound and spontaneous improvisational quality. Moreover, the three members were born between 1967 and 1969 (the same generation) and share the same musical concept, and have a wide range of acceptability from traditional bebop to new styles, resulting in an album that is easy to listen to and has musicality. The composition of the album is also appropriate for a debut album by the Deguchi Trio. Six of the ten tracks are original compositions (four by Deguchi and two by Sase), introducing the musicality of each member. All of them have familiar themes and are filled with melody lines that make even the layman want to hum along. In addition, the trio has chosen representative songs by Bud Powell and Bill Evans and arranged them meticulously in an attempt to give them a unique character compared to the many other performances of the same songs. In addition, two beautiful ballads were selected from standard songs, resulting in an extremely well-balanced section. We hope that this first album will be followed by the second and third albums by the Deguchi Makoto Trio. ( Liner notes by Masahisa Segawa )
