Description
[Machine Translation] [A masterpiece of Japanese film noir, starring Raizo Ichikawa, script by Yasuzo Masumura, directed by Issei Mori, and photographed by Kazuo Miyagawa! Shiozawa, the owner of a seemingly ordinary small restaurant, is a professional hit man who undertakes murder for a large sum of money. After successfully killing Owada, the boss of a rival gang, at the request of the Kimura clan, Shiozawa is approached by Maeda, an executive of the Kimura clan, who offers him a position as his brother. Keiko and Maeda, who had approached Shiozawa with the intention of taking his money and pretending to be his wife, bonded over sex and greed and came up with a plan to rob Shiozawa of 200 million yen worth of drugs. Shiozawa's elaborate plan succeeds, but Maeda and Keiko are about to turn the gun of treachery on Shiozawa... Adapted from Shinji Fujiwara's novel "The Night Before," this Japanese film noir depicts an assassin who succeeds in his mission with careful planning and precise technique. Raizo Ichikawa, 35 years old at the time, gives a restrained performance that exudes professionalism. In addition to the interesting three-way play between Raizo and co-stars Yumiko Nogawa and Mikio Narita, he is flanked by such accomplished performers as Asao Koike and Mayumi Nagisa. With a script by Yasuzo Masumura and Akihiro Ishimatsu, master director Issei Mori also shows off his skills, and master cinematographer Kazuo Miyagawa's cinematography produces memorable scenes, including a confrontation scene in a cemetery in the twilight.
