 Description
[Machine Translation] Toru Takemitsu ( October 8, 1930 - February 20, 1996 ) is one of Japan's leading world-class composers. This year marks the 90th anniversary of his birth. He has left behind a wide range of works, from orchestral works to stage music, film music, choral music, and pop songs, and here we present the first box set of his five orchestral works produced in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, which gained great popularity in the 1990s. This box set includes his major works from his early masterpiece "Requiem for Strings" to his last orchestral work "Spectral Canticle". All of these recordings, made in the presence and under the supervision of the composer himself, have won the "Recorded Arts Special Selection/Recommendation" and are still of immortal value today. The commentary includes production notes by the composer himself, as well as rare photographs of the recordings.
