¡Jinse no Okurimono - Kawa no Nagare no Yoni -
¡Yumiko Samejima (soprano)
Description
[Machine Translation] A project commemorating the 100th anniversary of Columbia's founding! In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Yumiko Samejima's debut, this album features chamber music accompaniment of "Japanese Songs," her originals. In addition to familiar classics such as "Hometown" and "Akatombo" (re-recordings), the album features a selection of songs that transcend genres and will be passed down to the next 100 years. The album's title track, "Gift of Life" by Masashi Sada and "Heart's Eye" by Kyu Sakamoto are hidden gems that few people know about. They are songs that make us look back on the milestones of our lives and savor them, and together with "Like a Stream in the River" by Misora Hibari, they form the centerpiece of this project. It is also noteworthy that the folk classic "The Season the Sun Gave Me" is included in the album, with a major image change. Arranged by Toshiyuki Watanabe, a friend of Masashi Sada, who has worked on NHK's historical dramas. The beautiful acoustic sound of the piano and strings complements Samejima's voice.
