¡Nanbei Ryokou
¡Kyozo Nishioka
Description
[Machine Translation] This is the fourth solo album (1977) by Kansai singer-songwriter Kyozo Nishioka, who is also closely associated with Haruomi Hosono, and was recorded in LA after trips to Mexico, Miami, the Bahamas, and New Orleans. The band was led by members of the Sauvat Review, including Junji Yamagishi (g) and Nagao Ishida (g), and featured Robert Greenidge, a steelpan player who has performed with Van Dyke Parks and Taj Mahal. The album features the romantic drunken blues "African Moon" as well as "Puka Puka" and the mellow strange song "Gypsy Song," a great exotic pop album with pleasant and relaxing vocals.
