¡Mendelessohn: The Piano Concertos
¡Matthias Kirschnereit (piano)

 Description
[Machine Translation] Commemorative release on the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn's birth! The complete piano concerto cycle of the genius Mendelssohn, whom Schumann called the Mozart of the 19th century, including the world premiere recording of the restored version of his unfinished piano concerto. In addition to Piano Concertos Nos. 1 & 2 and the rarely performed Concerto for Piano and Strings (composed at the age of 13! ), as well as a restored and completed version of the unfinished Piano Concerto, making this album a significant title for a commemorative release. The Unfinished Piano Concerto was restored and completed by American Mendelssohn scholar Larry Todd. It was drafted two years before the famous Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, a work that is believed to have been transitioned into a violin concerto composition along the way, as many very similar parts have been found in its sketches. Performed by the spirited German conductor Matthias Kirschnerite and the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra of Chemnitz. Recorded September 3-5, 2008 and February 2-4, 2009 at Luke Church, Dresden, Germany
