M4 and the rest of the recordings, titled "With the Modern Jazz Quartet 1951-53," include M4-7 from a session with MJQ (Milt Jackson and others) in 1953, M8-15 from a performance by the Sonny Rollins Quartet (Art Blakey and others) in December 1951, and M16 from a rare recording of Miles Davis playing the piano in January 1951.
