¡EP-4 UNIT3
Description
[Machine Translation] EP-4 unit3, an electro-acoustic unit consisting of Kaoru Sato, the core member of the legendary Kyoto new wave band: EP-4, and BANANA-UG, an original member of EP-4, has released their solo album on the BLACK SMOKER experimental series! A divine revelation? This is definitely an important work that will cause a stir in the music scene in recent years! On May 21 this year, EP-4 performed live for the first time in 30 years as a full band. In addition to Kaoru Sato and other original members from the 80's, Jim O'Rourke, Muneomi Senju (DCPRG, PARA, etc.), Masatoshi Tsunematsu (ex-Friction), and Tatsuya Nakamura (LOSALIOS, Friction, etc.) appeared as support at the venue, Daikanyama UNIT. The revival of the EP-4, featuring front act Optrum (Atsuhiro Ito) and DJs Naruyoshi Kikuchi and MOODMAN, left a strong impression even on the younger generation who had not experienced the EP-4 in real time. With the movement around EP-4 gaining momentum, "EP-4 unit3" is set to release its first solo album! EP-4 unit3, consisting of Kaoru Sato and BANANA-UG, is one of the originators of the acoustic noise improvisation unit formed in the early 80s. Although they have contributed songs to a live compilation "CASE OF TELEGRAPH" in 1983, this is their first solo work. The content is based on the stage music for the Edo Ito Marashi Puppet Theater's September 2011 performance of "Arto 24 Jikan" (directed by Masahiko Akuto, puppet by Itsuki Yuki, original story by Soshi Suzuki), in which Sato and BANANA were in charge and Atsuhiro Ito made a guest appearance, and includes live performances as well as studio recordings. The work is filled with the profound dignity and black humor of the pioneer of noise-electronics units in the 1980s. This is a work that will cause a stir in the recent laptop music, noise, and drone music scenes.
