¡Dub Syndicate
Description
[Machine Translation] [On-U Sound] is pleased to announce the release of a 5-CD box set of the dub syndicate's work since the late 1980s, when the group was at the peak of its powers! This release documents the group's rise to prominence as a live band, with Style Scott taking the reigns as bandleader and co-producer. This was also the period when they were at their most popular, and this collection combines their outstanding Jamaican playing skills with the experimental studio work of UK producer Adrian Sherwood. For this reissue, the following four albums will be faithfully reproduced in their original jackets and reissued on analog vinyl with newly produced detailed liner notes and archival photos on the inner sleeve. This 5-CD box set includes all five albums. [Strike The Balance" ( 1989 ) : The first studio album in four years, and the follow-up to "Time Boom X De Devil Dead" (1987), a collaboration with Lee Scratch Perry. It includes "Cuss Cuss" by Bim Sherman and "Je T'aime" by Shara Nelson, known for her work on Massive Attack's "Blue Lines". This important work was released at a time when the dub syndicate was in full swing as a touring band. Stoned Immaculate ( 1991 ) : The most famous album of the Dub Syndicate. Recorded in Jamaica and London, it features rhythms by Style Scott, guitar by Skip McDonald, vocals by Lee Scratch Perry and Akabu, samples by Prince Farai, and keyboards by Keith Levine. The album's title track, "Stoned Immaculate," a fusion of reggae and tripped-out electronic music, has been a hit at festivals and sound systems around the world. Echomania" ( 1993 ) : The album features powerful rhythms by Style Scott and Flava Holt, who were active in the Roots Radics. Guest artists include Lee Scratch Perry and Talvin Singh. Ital Breakfast ( 1996 ) : A true trans-atlantic dub album, featuring a collection of prominent Jamaican musicians from the Roots Radics and the Soul Syndicate, as well as London's Skip McDonald and Akabu. Obscured By Version" ( 2025 ) : A collection of new versions based on rhythms from 1989-96. Adrian Sherwood has reconstructed the original tapes and newly dub-mixed them. This work celebrates the longtime creative partnership between Adrian Sherwood and Style Scott. Includes instructions, liner notes, and inner sleeve. This product will be released on the same day worldwide/on Friday, so products will be delivered on or after the day of release.
