Description
Starring: Sadawo Abe and Directed by Nobuo Mizuta. The film co-stars Hikari Mitsushima, Jun Kunimura, Rie Miyazawa, Ryudo Uzaki, Kohei Matsushita, and a cast full of unique personalities. --Makimoto works for a small city office and is in charge of burying the deceased. He is so concerned about the feelings of the deceased that he puts his own rules before those of the police, and is constantly berated by detective Kamishiro. One day, Makimoto visits the room of Kaburaki, an elderly man who died without any relatives, and discovers a photograph of a girl who seems to be his daughter. Meanwhile, Onoguchi, the new director of the prefectural office, decides to abolish the Omimokuri Section. Makimoto, for whom Kaburaki's case is his "last job," uses the few clues he has to find the girl in the photo and invite as many attendees as possible to the funeral, and begins to retrace Kaburaki's life as he visits his former friends and acquaintances.
