Description
This is the feature-length directorial debut of Ema Kawawada, a member of Hirokazu Koreeda's creator's group "Bunbuku". The film was officially invited to the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival and received a Special Mention at the Amnesty International Film Awards. Plot: Sarya is a 17-year-old Kurd who grew up in Japan. One day, her family's application for refugee status is denied, and her daily life changes drastically. Sarya, who lives in Saitama, can no longer freely see Sota, a high school student in Tokyo, whom she met at a part-time job she started without telling her father in order to go on to higher education....
