Though he may not be well known outside Japan, Kenji Miyazawa is a literary icon here. Through the voluminous body of work he produced before his untimely death at 37 years of age, his influence extends beyond literary world even to this day. "Vision of Ihatov: Kenji's Spring" is an animated movie produced in celebration (in 1996) of the 100th anniversary of his birth. It's a stunningly beautiful, entertaining, semi-autographical fantasy movie directed by Shoji Kawamori of "Escaflowne", "Macross Plus" and "Arjuna" fame!
