Description
Known as "WA-JAZZ" or "J-JAZZ," a collection showcasing over 500 jacket designs of jazz albums released in Japan from the 1950s to the 1980s has been released by the UK's BBE, a leader in this genre's discovery scene. This ultimate photo collection + 10=track compilation CD (approximately 80 minutes) features rare Japanese pressings with obi strips. The photo book includes a foreword by Terumasa Hino (in English), color photos of over 500 original J-Jazz jackets, rare Japan-produced jackets of international artists, a valuable interview with Toru Aizawa (known for "TACHIBANA VOL.1"), photos of Japanese Blue Note editions and obi catalogues, and J-Jazz charts curated by Yusuke Ogawa, Shuya Okino, Toshio Matsuura, Tatsuo Sunaga, Giles Peterson, and Paul Murphy, among others. It also covers works from major labels to indie releases, including Aketa, Three Blind Mice, and ALM. Supervised by Tony Higgins and Mike Peden, this large-format LP-sized photo collection comes in a sturdy cardboard case.
