Description
Dario Argento and George A. Romero, Horror maestros from both sides of the Atlantic teamed up again, this time to do a retelling of a pair of Edgar Allan Poe stories. Each directs one of the two segments, "The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar" and "The Black Cat". In Romero's "The Facts....", a cheating wife (Adrienne Barbeau) tries to scam her dying husband out of millions with her psychiatrist/lover doing the dirty work. The old man dies while under the doctor's hypnosis, and is stuck in the limbo between the two worlds, and seeks revenge. Barbeau had previously teamed up with Romero on "Creapshow" where she played a similar character. Argento's "The Black Cat" concerns a forensic photographer who kills the stray cat his wife brings home. He soon finds out he can't rid himself of it, and he descends into madness while one murder leads to another, and the coverups become desperately messy and entangled.
