He starts taking about ballet lessons in spite of his father's dismissal, etc.... but the movie's got so much great things going for it aside from this premise! The film became a record breaking hit in the U.K. and many other countries, and it deserved to be so. Young Jamie Bell as Billy Elliot is simply brilliant, and the film features an outstanding performance from Julie Walters as Mrs. Wilkinson, Billy's teacher and mentor.
