The Kamakura Shogunate, which laid the foundation for the rule of Japan by the samurai, falls due to the rebellion of the trusted vassal Takauji Ashikaga. Having lost everything and plunged into the depths of despair, Tokiyuki Hojo, the legitimate heir of the shogunate, escapes the burning Kamakura with the help of a priest named Yorishige Suwa, who claims to be a god.
