Description
[Machine Translation] Legendary manga artist Seiki Tsuchida made his debut as a manga artist at the age of 17 and went on to produce his masterpieces "Minnen", "Edit-Oh", and "Kumo desu tokoro", and won the 1999 Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award for "Same Moon Watching". This live-action film adaptation of Tsuchida's unfinished masterpiece "Kazoku" (Family) is a rich depiction of Tsuchida's way of life, which influenced many manga artists, including Taiyo Matsumoto. The film is written and directed by Kazuhiro Sawadaishi, costume designer for "13 Assassins" and "Rurouni Kenshin" and character designer for the popular commercial series "au Santaro". He has held solo exhibitions as a photographer not only in Japan but also in China, and makes his directorial debut with a cast that includes Ryo Yoshizawa, Masatoshi Nagase, Shun Oguri, and Shinnosuke Abe (in order of appearance). --After the disappearance of his father, Mako and his mother leave the town they have grown accustomed to and head for a new town. Kenji lives a secret life with his common-law wife, Haruka, who has a secret of her own. Takeo, a widowed father raising two children by himself, takes his children for a drive to the beach. Yuichi returns to his parents' house for the first time in a long while, and is led into the woods by a woman who calls his name. --This is a lyrical poem that quietly depicts the complex intertwining of four families of four men and their journey from loss to rebirth.
