Formed in Kyoto in 1983, Dysentery was one of the best girl punk bands in Japan, and the lyrics of "Yumemiru Pussy" on their first 7-inch EP "Dysentery" released in 1985 caused a stir and left a strong impact on the audience. Since then, the band has been active on the indies circuit, consistently releasing albums without major success, and was active mainly in the Kansai area until 1995, having a tremendous impact on girl bands both then and later.
