¡Schumann: Works for Chello
¡Classical V.A.
Description
[Machine Translation] When Schumann, a spirited 20-year-old, had to give up piano because of a broken finger, he actually loved the cello so much that he wondered whether to give up music or turn to the cello. After much hesitation, Schumann decided to compose, and his love of the cello culminated in the "Cello Concerto" written in 1850. The three movements, which are played without interruption, are full of laconic melodies and romantic sentiments, with a particularly beautiful slow middle movement. The Royal Northern Sinfonia is also a must-see. He spins out the full sound of the inner voice that Schumann seeks. With the exception of "Five Pieces in the Style of Folk Songs," all of the other pieces were written for other instruments, but they sound perfectly at home on the cello, and Schwabe's superb arrangements and calm, gentle sound allow the listener to directly experience the dreamlike world that Schumann envisioned. [Performed by] Gabriel Schwabe (cello), Nicholas Rimmer (piano: 2-6), Royal Northern Sinfonia (1), Lars Forkert (conductor: 1)
