¡Cavazzoni: Complete Works, Italina Ricercars
¡Glen Wilson

 Description
[Machine Translation] The development of keyboard music was remarkable in 16th century Italy, and many important composers wrote works for the keyboard. However, most of the surviving works are for organ, and very few harpsichord works have survived. However, when performer Wilson carefully consulted the literature, he found that many of the works listed as "for organ" were actually written for harpsichord, and that many of them were actually written for an unspecified instrument. This album features mainly works by Cavazzoni, an outstanding keyboard player and composer active in the 15th and 16th centuries. His ricercare are improvisational, and most of them are based on the development of "little themes" from popular songs of the time. These are usually played on the organ, but in this album they are restored for the harpsichord, the original instrument.
