¡Wind Concertos - Ticheli, Warnaar, Ranjbaran
¡Giancarlo Guerrero (conductor), Nashville Symphony

 Description
[Machine Translation] The three "Concertos for Wind Instruments" on this album all have a traditional three-movement form, even though they were composed in the 21st century. Ticheli's Clarinet Concerto is an interesting homage to Gershwin, Copland, and Bernstein. Woehnl's "Horn Concerto," which uses only the seven white keys of the piano, known as the "white scale," for the main melody, is filled with a strange tension born of the restriction of not using any black keys, yet it has an idyllic, pastoral atmosphere. Ranjbaran's "Flute Concerto" is an exotic work that incorporates Iranian rhythms, melodies, and instruments. Commissioned by Jeffrey Kaner, principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Ranjbaran's flute concerto is a work that impresses with its long-lasting, mysterious flute sound.
