¡Braunfels: Works
¡Classical V.A.

 Description
[Machine Translation] Braunfels has been actively reviving his works, especially in Europe. Although he was of Jewish descent and was at the mercy of Nazi Germany during World War II, he returned to public service after the war and is highly regarded for his efforts to rebuild the devastated German music world. He is best known for his operas and religious works, but he also composed several chamber music pieces, and his String Quartets No. 1 and No. 2 (999406), released on the cpo label, have already received high acclaim. The two works on this album are the String Quartet and the Concerto Symphony, both of which were expanded into a string quartet version by Frithos Haas, a pupil of Braunfels, and both of which have relatively large instrumentation. The rich sound of the late Romanticism is attractive. [Performer: Henry Lauderdalez, Munich Radio Orchestra
