¡Fasch: Missa in G - Cantata - Suite in A
¡Classical V.A.

 Description
[Machine Translation] Fasch was a composer active in the late German Baroque period. He developed his talent as a violinist and traveled throughout Germany, was hired by the court orchestra of Bayreuth in 1714, and became court music director of Zerbst, Prussia, in 1722. He spent the rest of his life there. As director of music in Zerbst, he studied the religious trends of the time and took it upon himself to write works appropriate to them. It is said that he wrote cantatas for all church calendar days, but none of his works were published during his lifetime and most of them, except for the orchestral works, were scattered. This Mass in G major is one of the few religious works for which a score has survived. Careful attention was paid to the text used, and various techniques were employed to emphasize the meaning of the words, such as a short overture followed by the first soprano solo. The virtuoso Hermann Max delivers a powerful performance of this brilliant work, which is full of obbligato and arias for solo instruments.
