¡Puccini: La Rondine
¡Classical V.A.

 Description
[Machine Translation] The Swallow," premiered in 1917, was originally commissioned as a comic opera, but Puccini was not satisfied with the script and asked Giuseppe Adami to write a new one. Although the opera was a great success when it premiered, its popularity gradually declined, and although Puccini made some revisions, it never completely regained its popularity. The story is reminiscent of Verdi's "La Traviata," in that the heroine and the young man elope, but instead of a dramatic death, the heroine leaves the young man and returns to her former life of pleasure, which may have been one reason why it was so difficult to gain popularity. However, there are some wonderful arias, such as "Doretta's Dream," and there is enough content to enjoy the story. Magda, sung by Elena Moschuk, is both lovely and bewitching.
