¡A.Urspruch: Piano Concerto Op.9, Symphony Op.14
¡Classical V.A.
Description
[Machine Translation] Born in Frankfurt in 1850, Urschspruf studied under Ignaz Lachner and Joachim Ruff, direct disciples of Franz Liszt, and was a composer whose many works were in the Weimar School of Music. His numerous works range from solo piano pieces to large orchestral works, two operas, chamber music, and choral works, and in the year of his death he was also involved in the restoration of Gregorian chant. Internationally recognized as an advocate of late Romanticism during his lifetime, he was soon forgotten after his death, and only in the 21st century have some of his operas (The Most Impossible Thing in All Things) and piano works been performed and recorded, attracting attention. The piano concerto and symphony on this album are world premiere recordings. The Piano Concerto is written in E-flat major, the same key as Liszt's work, but the style is quite different, with a more profound sound reminiscent of Schumann. The symphony is also in the style of Beethoven, an undiscovered masterpiece in the German tradition. [Performed by Oliver Triendl (piano) [CD1], Georg Fritsch (conductor) [CD1], Markus Bosch (conductor) [CD2], Northwest German Philharmonic Orchestra
