¡Verdi: Ernani
¡Opera
Description
[Machine Translation] Hernani, who is of noble blood but is now the head of bandits. Don Silva, Grand Duke of Spain. King Don Carlo. These three men fight over Elvira, Silva's niece and daughter-in-law, who is also in love with Ernani. The story of their struggle for national prestige, which seems to end in mutual forgiveness, turns into a tragedy in which the three men cannot escape from their strong jealousy and vengeance. It was a success and was performed extensively outside Italy from early on. Although it has been pointed out that some of the content, such as the promise to commit suicide if one hears a horn blowing, is a bit ridiculous, it also contains plenty of patriotic sentiment, as is typical of Verdi's works, and it won popularity for its charming characters, especially the tenor singer. In this production, the leading role of Hernani is played by the famous Mexican singer Ramon Vargas. Elvira is sung by the remarkable soprano Vassilieva, and the young King Don Carlo is sung by Ludovic Tesieres, making for a strong lineup. The production by Glinda, using modern equipment, was also a topic of conversation. [Artists] Ramon Vargas (tenor) / Ludovic Tezier (baritone) / Alexander Vinogradov (bass) / Svetla Vassilieva (soprano) / Karine Ohanyan (soprano) / Maurizio Pace (tenor) / Gabriele Ribis (bass) / Daniele Callegari ( Conductor ) / Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra / Monte-Carlo Opera Chorus
